Deputies probe thefts
FLORESVILLE -- Three Floresville men face charges in connection with the theft of a generator from a home south of here.
According to Investigator Stephen Moore of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies Chris Rocha and Nicole Camarillo arrested Randy Benavides Feb. 10. Dennis Sendejo was arrested earlier, and a third suspect remains at large. All three are charged with theft of property worth more than $1,500 but less than $20,000 and engaging in organized criminal activity.
Sendejo and Benavides were transported to the Wilson County Jail. Records indicate that Benavides was released after posting a total of $14,000 bond.
Deputies also are investigating an unrelated incident that occurred Feb. 18 at the Wilson County Pct. 1 yard on F.M. 536 south of Floresville. According to Pct. 1 Commissioner Albert Gamez Jr., two batteries were stolen overnight from a loader. He said the thieves cut the battery cables to four trucks also parked there, but they were unable to remove the batteries.
Gamez said he now will be forced to beef up security, as this is the second such incident at the yard in two months. In the previous incident, two new truck batteries were removed and replaced with old batteries. A trash pump with an estimated value of $600 also was taken.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 830-393-2535. Anonymous tips -- for which cash rewards are given in the event of an arrest or the return of stolen property -- can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or http://bit.ly/NDrIut.
