According to Floresville City Attorney Louis T. Rosenberg, because the election in Floresville is a special election, the filing deadline actually is Monday, March 10.

The last day to file for a place on the ballots for the regular May 10 elections was Friday, Feb. 28.

Thursday, April 10, is the deadline to register to vote for the May elections.

Several area entities will hold May elections, including the cities of:

•La Vernia -- mayor and two council places, as well as a streets-maintenance tax election

•Stockdale -- three council seats

•Floresville -- special election to fill a council vacancy

•Falls City -- mayor and three at-large council places

•St. Hedwig -- mayor, currently vacant, and two council places

•China Grove -- two at-large seats, along with a streets-maintenance tax election. The city also may fill a seat recently vacated by Councilman John Massengale.

School districts holding May elections include:

•Stockdale -- two trustee places

•Poth -- special election for two school board seats, and a general election for three trustee places.
