Offer condolences


Ricky Timothy Barber, a resident of Wilson County, Texas, since 1997, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Jackson, Miss., at the age of 55 years, 6 months, and 3 days. Ricky was born Aug. 22, 1958, in San Antonio, the son of Jimmy Wayne and Hazel Gibson Barber.

After graduation from high school in San Antonio, Ricky worked as a truck driver with Combined Transport for many years. He married Denise Lucas on Aug. 1, 1987, in San Antonio. Ricky was a member of Oak Hills Community Church in Wilson County.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wayne Barber; his mother, Hazel Gibson Barber Starr; and his grandparents, George and Billie Gibson.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of more than 26 years, Denise Lucas Barber of Sutherland Springs; his precious daughters, Rhiannon Barber of Floresville and Nicki Barber of Austin; and his siblings, Denise Starr of Conroe and Ray Starr of Boerne.

Visitation was held on Monday, March 3, at 9 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Dr. Joel Odom of Oak Hills Community Church.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Serving as pallbearers were David Allen Longoria, Jim Abbott, Ray Starr, Joe Miller, Jason Clyatt, and Myron Lewis.
