The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will work directly under the Border Prosecution Unit Initiative dedicated to Human Trafficking/Human Smuggling. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years prosecutorial experience and extensive felony trial experience. 1967-2014

Danny Michael Davis, 47, of Floresville, Texas, died suddenly at home on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014. One of nine children, he was born to William and Jacqueline Davis on Jan. 10, 1967, in Baltimore, Md.

After 23 years of honorable service, he retired as a chief gunner’s mate in 2008 from the U.S. Navy. Active in the community, he served as assistant Scout master for Troop 114, worked tirelessly with the 4-H Club, and assisted with the Girl Scouts. He also enjoyed golfing and keeping up his gunner’s mate skills at the Nardis Gun Club. His main devotion, however, was to his family, with whom he enjoyed vacationing, working in the orchard, or simply spending time around the home. He was an exceptional cook and loved to grill and relax in the hot tub.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Buck and Keith Davis.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Kimberley; five children, Danny Jr. and Justin of Memphis, Tenn., Chelsea of Phoenix, Ariz., and Zachary and Madaline of Floresville; his granddaughter, Delilah; sisters Toni, Kimberly, and Darlene; brothers Rick, Brad, and William “Bill”; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Monday, March 3, at 6 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Alamo Heights, officiated by the Rev. Kevin Shanahan.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
