Trustees approve campus renovations
EAST CENTRAL -- The district’s trustees have approved an ambitious renovation -- including moving the library -- at Salado Intermediate School.
The plan was among several items approved by the East Central Independent School District board during its Feb. 20 meeting, according to Ashley Chohlis after the meeting.
At Pecan Valley Elementary School, renovations will be made to provide the campus with a more secure entrance, a goal the district has been working toward for all campuses. At Salado, however, the construction goals are a bit more ambitious. The district plans to relocate the school’s library onto another part of campus, and then renovate the old building. The old library will become a new front office space, providing a larger, better working environment, as well as a more secure campus, Chohlis said.
The architect’s contract of $120,000 was approved, as was the funding of $1.46 million for the work at both campuses.
With acceptance of the meeting’s consent agenda, the board also accepted the retirement of Superintendent Gary Patterson, effective Aug. 31.
