We are seeking: Graduate from an accredited college with an APTA curriculum. Outpatient orthopedic experience within a private clinic or hospital preferred. This series profiles area organizations that help meet needs in our communities, and connects volunteers with good causes.

Organization: East Central School Foundation

What it does: The mission of this organization is to develop and expand educational opportunities for students by providing financial support and community involvement. All donations to the foundation serve the students of East Central Independent School District by helping to provide for basic needs via the District Social Service Department, enrichment experiences through innovative and creative Teacher Mini Grants, and scholarships to aid students attending colleges and universities.

Background: Established in 1986, this nonprofit committee of business and community members works to support the social services department of the district, helping families connect to services needed to thrive. The group manages local scholarships for students to attend post-high school training or college, and provides mini-grants for teachers to support innovative classroom projects not supported by district funds. The foundation also provides other assistance as it is able.

How you can help: Volunteering labor or donating goods for the foundation’s annual gala fund-raiser are welcomed. Willing people also can serve on the committee as an advisor or director, as guest speakers for college or career events, or support other events, which occur on different district campuses. Senior citizens are especially invited to help.

Events: The East Central School Foundation’s 12th annual Gala Dinner/Silent and Live Auction and Dance Fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 5, from 6-11 p.m. in the Floresville Event Center, The “Hooray for Hollywood” themed event is currently accepting underwriting and table sponsors.

The foundation also hosts other events, which have included golf tournaments in the past.
