A two-hour-long power outage March 10 is being blamed on a malfunctioning lightning arrester at a Floresville Electric Light & Power System (FELPS) substation on A Street in Floresville, said Marcy Jacobs, FELPS’ manager of financial services.

Jacobs said that Line Supervisor Paul Herrera reported that the incident, which caused one of the substation’s three transformers to trip, occurred at approximately 7 p.m. FELPS customers in parts of Floresville and throughout Poth reported being without power.

The outage was a lively topic of conversation on the Wilson County News’ Facebook page, where some commented about Zumba classes and TV shows being cut short. Others decided to light candles and relish quiet time with their families.
