1922-2014

Lucy Helen Pollok, 91, of Floresville, Texas, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 3, 2014. She was born May 19, 1922, in Falls City, the youngest of 6 children, to John and Pauline Manka Lyssy.

Lucy attended school in Falls City. She married Vincent J. Pollok on Jan. 22, 1946. She worked as a homemaker, was an excellent seamstress, raised 10 children, and took care of the family farm. Lucy later worked at Holmes Foods in Nixon and retired from Chevron Resources. She enjoyed making peanut brittle and baking bread, coffee cake, and her delicious Christmas teacake cookies for all of her family. Lucy always attended all of the local church picnics every year and was so happy when she got to say BINGO!

The Pollok family would like to thank the Floresville Residence and Rehab Center and the nursing staff for their care of their beloved mother.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent J. Pollok; siblings Edward Lyssy, Irene Pawlik, Proxie Wiatrek, and Daniel Lyssy; and great-grandchildren Kylie Wright, Kyley Wootan, and Luke Pollok.

She is survived by her eldest sister, Magdalene Wiatrek of Kenedy; her 10 children, Frances (Virgil) Pruski of Sandia, Susan (George) Wright of San Antonio, Fred (Pat) Pollok of Floresville, Rudy (Emily/Jeannie) Pollok of San Antonio, Rick (Sharon) Pollok of Poth, Robert Pollok of Hobson, Cathy (John) St. George of Floresville, Jimmy Pollok of Floresville, Liz (Dan) Stone of Poth, and Sherry Gittinger of Floresville; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6, at 4 p.m. with a rosary vigil at 7 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Wieslaw Iwaniec.

Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Panna Maria.

Serving as pallbearers were Brian Pruski, Greg Wright, David Pollok, Miles Stone, Troy Stone, Leonard Gittinger, Josh Gittinger, and Dylan Pollok.

Memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund in Panna Maria.
