ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Stockdale tennis teams in full swing

STOCKDALE -- The Stockdale tennis teams participated in the Stockdale Tennis Tournament held Feb. 26-27.

In varsity action, boys doubles competition was fierce, and the team of Tristan and Joel Marquez finished in third place. During the third-place match, the Marquez brothers faced Stockdale teammates Alex Vela and Travis Covington in what was a very close match that ended with a score of 9-7. Fellow Brahmas Anthony Bennett and Dylan Dunn advanced to the second round of play. In varsity mixed doubles, Jesse Opela and Lacey Dugi participated in the first round of the main draw, and the first consolation round.

In varsity girls singles, Lauryn Coston advanced to the third round. Hannah Hernandez and Velma Vidal both participated in the first round of the main draw and the first consolation round.

Later in the week, the Stockdale Junior High School tennis team competed in the Beeville Junior High tournament on March 1.

Marcos Marquez finished first in the seventh-grade boys singles. He played three matches to advance to the final. In the final, he faced a player from Port Lavaca, and won by the score of 6-2. Avery Monita finished fourth in seventh-grade boys singles.

In eighth-grade boys singles, Matthew Dunn was the consolation winner. He faced a player from Orange Grove in the final, and was successful with a score of 6-4. Collin Akin finished in fourth place. Trenton Jordan reached the first round of consolation.

Christian Aguilar and Forester finished first in seventh-grade boys doubles. The duo played three matches leading to the final, where they faced players from Sinton. The final match ended with a score of 6-4. Jacob Hernandez and Travis Gutierrez finished in third place. Jacob Wallace and Dawson Lerma finished in fourth place. The two Stockdale teams played a very close third-place match that ended in a score of 6-4. Mark Hernandez and Nuwley Gonzales faced Sinton in the consolation final and won, 6-2.

Thomas Burrier and Jacob Vaughn played Victoria in the final and finished in second place in eighth-grade doubles.

On the girls side, in seventh-grade singles play, Theresa Vela participated in the first round of the main draw, and the first round of the consolation draw.

In seventh-grade girls doubles, Morgan Brisch and Joanne Portillo finished first with a 6-3 win over Orange Grove. Alyssa Aguilar and Jazmin Navarro finished in fourth place.

Karlye Lynn and Cayci Mills finished in first place in eighth-grade girls doubles. They played three matches on their way to the final, where they played Sinton. The final match score was 6-2. Madison Fitzsimon and Callye McGee finished as the consolation winners. They faced Sinton in the final of the consolation bracket. The consolation final was 6-3.
