Texas high school seniors can now apply for the 11th annual Don’t mess with Texas Scholarship, which recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken leadership roles to prevent litter in their schools and/or communities and build awareness of the Don’t mess with Texas initiative.

The 2014 scholarship is sponsored by Forestar and presented by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful.

Any Texas high school senior currently attending public, private, or home school and planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited Texas college or university next fall may apply. Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 4, and will be judged based on student essays detailing creative solutions to litter problems.

TxDOT, Keep Texas Beautiful, and Forestar will award one $3,000 scholarship and two $1,000 scholarships in May.
