Ritchey cases remain in holding pattern
Patsy Lynne Ritchey, 54, is one of numerous suspects listed on the docket to appear before 218th Judicial District Judge Stella Saxon in Wilson County District Court March 12.
However, according to Assistant District Attorney Audrey Louis of the 81st Judicial District, this was a clerical error. Ritchey’s next scheduled court appearance was not until Tuesday, March 18. However, this likely will be rescheduled as an insurance fraud investigation tied to Ritchey’s now-defunct Farmers Insurance business on U.S. 87 in La Vernia is not yet complete. Once the probe wraps, that case will be presented to a grand jury for possible indictment.
She is charged with theft of property worth more than $20,000 but less than $100,000, misapplication of fiduciary property, and theft of property worth more than $1,500 but less than $20,000.
Ritchey’s theft charges stem from her tenure as the former treasurer of the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce.
Among the other defendants appearing before Saxon were:
•Carter Lambeck, 35, of Stockdale, charged with failure to stop and leave information, in connection with a 2013 crash on S.H. 123 near Stockdale, present for a docket call. Jury selection ahead of his trial is set for March 24.
•Jacqueline Kowalik, 49, charged with misapplication of fiduciary property totaling more than $20,000 but less than $100,000, present in court for a pretrial hearing. She returns for a docket call April 7, with jury selection ahead of her trial set for April 21.
•Pedro Silva, 46, of San Antonio -- one of two charged in an October 2013 robbery near the Guadalupe County line -- was present for a docket call. Court records indicate that Silva, on hospice care due to a terminal cancer diagnosis, is set to return to court March 24 for jury selection ahead of his trial.
•Samantha Cunningham, 24, of Seguin -- Silva’s alleged accomplice -- who also is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and debit-card abuse in relation to the incident, was present for a docket call. She returns to court for a pretrial hearing March 31, a docket call April 7, and jury selection ahead of her trial April 21.
•Roberto Martinez Huron Sr., 60, of Floresville, charged with one count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct, for allegedly firing a gun at his son in a home on Montesito Lane north of Floresville July 22, 2013, was present for a pretrial hearing. He is set to return to court April 7 for a docket call, with jury selection ahead of his trial set for April 21.
