FLORESVILLE --Alejandro Lee Perez, 32, of Floresville is being held in the Wilson County Jail as of press time Monday, March 17. He is charged with manufacture and delivery of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, following his arrest here March 16.

According to Wilson County Jail records, Wilson County Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Richard “Dickie” Jackson set Perez’s bond at $40,000.

Patrolman Matthew Redd of the Floresville Police Department said he was on patrol in the area of C and South Second streets at approximately 7:15 p.m. He reported that he saw Perez walking down South Second Street and that the suspect allegedly tossed something onto the lawn of a home upon observing Redd turning around.

After speaking with Perez about what he had seen, Redd said he observed the suspect returning to retrieve the item a short time later. He detained Perez and located several small bags containing a crystalline substance, which tested positive for approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine. Two witnesses verified seeing Perez attempt to dispose of the bags. Redd said the approximate street value of the illegal narcotic is $3,000.

Perez, if convicted, faces up to life in prison.

I completely understand the "up to" part, still amazed that 3k of dope can get you "up to" life in prison. Whereas Sexual Assault of a Child is usually a second degree felony, punishable by 2 to 20 years ... More ›

Brahma fan. The key words are "up to" rarely will a defendant serve maximum time on any offense. The penalties are meant to be a deterrent. Having said that...what does that tell you about the person who knows the ... More ›
