Suspect ditches gun
LA VERNIA -- Deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation into a March 11 incident in which a man allegedly ditched a weapon after a fight.
Chief Deputy Johnie Deagen of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said 43-year-old Steven Pruski and another man became involved in a fight outside the Circle B gun shop on U.S. 87 near La Vernia at approximately 9:30 p.m. When the owner of the shop attempted to break up the fight, Pruski allegedly produced a revolver and fired it once. No one was shot, but Pruski reportedly fled and was not found to be in possession of the weapon when he was apprehended on Oak Hill Road just south of the city limits.
Sheriff’s deputies, who were assisted by officers from the La Vernia Police Department, searched the area for the weapon but did not locate the revolver as of press time Monday, March 17.
Pruski is charged with deadly conduct and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Wilson County Jail records indicate that Wilson County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Johnny Tejada Villarreal set Pruski’s bond at a total of $36,000, which was posted prior to his release at 3 p.m. March 12.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 830-393-2535. Anonymous tips, which could qualify for a cash reward, can be furnished to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or http://bit.ly/NDrIut.
