Penny Jo Ambriz passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 30 years, 4 months, and 5 days. She was born Nov. 7, 1983, in San Antonio to Jose Antonio and Sarah Ambriz.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Penny is survived by her daughter, Deja Bernadette Ambriz of San Antonio; her mother, Sarah Ambriz Garcia of San Antonio; her grandmother, Ernestina DeHoyo Garcia of Cañada Verde; brothers Jose Antonio Ambriz of San Antonio and Jose Antonio Garcia of Laredo; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Monday, March 24, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Frank Kurzaj officiating.

Interment followed in the Cañada Verde Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Clemente A. Luna, Juan Abundis, Jason R. Luna, Alberto Ambriz Jr., John Rodriguez, Sam Cardenas, Joey Guerrero, and Danny Luna.
