Offer condolences


Hector Marin Jr., a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 7:38 a.m. in the Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi at the age of 33 years, 6 months, and 7 days. He was born Sept. 9, 1980, in Floresville, the son of Hector Marin Sr. and Nelda Ortiz.

Hector graduated from Floresville High School and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Eric Ortiz Marin.

Hector is survived by his father, Hector Marin Sr. and wife Maria; his mother, Nelda Ortiz; his daughter, Arreic D. Marin; his brothers, Leo Navarro Jr. and Abraham Hawkins; his stepsiblings, Willie Morales, Valerie Valdez, Maggie Panaro, and Abraham Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 20, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by Monsignor Frank Kurzaj.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Abraham Rodriguez, Daniel Torres, Joe Vasquez, Kevin Ortiz, Leo Navarro Jr., and Vernardo Rodriguez.
