Roy Franklin Walden of La Vernia was born on April 12, 1939, in Austin, Texas, to Dowell and Alice (King) Walden. He passed away in his home with family by his side on Friday, March 21, 2014, at the age of 74.

Before retiring in 2004, he spent most of his working years as an interior trim carpenter in and around the San Antonio area working for several area home builders.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bill and Ben Walden of Austin and Dean Walden of Buda.

Roy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith (Allman) Walden of La Vernia; his four sons, Lawrence Walden of La Vernia, Brian Walden of Pearl, Miss., and Charles Walden and Garrett Walden, both of La Vernia; his two brothers, Don Walden of Buda and Bob Walden of Belton; six grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Coleby, Madison, Jacob, and Sadie Walden, all of La Vernia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will meet in Witte’s Bar-B-Que & Catering in La Vernia on Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. to celebrate Roy’s life and to share memories and stories. Please feel free to come and join the family. Tea and coffee will be provided.
