Poth page: Enjoy Voyage 2014 Gala, Exhibit in May
Take a step back into the past by joining the Poth Education Foundation as it transforms the Poth VFW into a “Dinosaur Extravaganza,” the theme for the foundation’s Voyage 2014 Gala and Exhibit.
Beginning on Thursday, May 1, from 7-9 p.m., an amazing museum exhibit will highlight the evening as guests voyage into pre-historic times. “Dinosaur George” Blasing, a self-taught paleontologist and animal behaviorist who travels throughout the state, will present an array of displays featuring creatures that roamed the earth long ago. While enjoying the exhibits, adults will be provided with heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine, a cash bar, and a silent and live auction. Tickets may be purchased for $25 a person and are available through foundation members or at the Poth ISD Administration Office.
The fun will continue Friday, May 2, as “Dinosaur George” and the museum exhibit will be available to the students of Poth ISD from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the general public from 4-7 p.m. at no charge. Pre-historic gems, artifacts, and presentations will captivate visitors of all ages.
The gala will serve as the foundation’s way to raise additional funds to carry out its funding of educational grants for teachers and staff of Poth ISD. Approximately $30,000 was awarded to staff through the grant process this year. The exhibit, open to students and the public, is the foundation’s way of giving back to the community by providing an enriching educational experience for all.
In staying true to the vision of education, this event will be an amazing opportunity for the foundation, as well as its sponsors, to show our commitment to our most valuable assets, the children and educators of Poth ISD.
