1942-2014

Todd Russell Burnett went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 71 years 5 months, and 29 days. He was born on Oct. 27, 1942, to Clarence E. and Evelyn Burnett in Illinois and grew up in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was a resident of Manvel, Texas, and also Floresville since 1999. Todd loved his land in Floresville and working the hay field with his John Deere. He also loved his cattle and horses over the years but most of all loved his family and his God. Todd was a kind and loving man who would help anyone who needed him whatever the circumstance. He was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

Todd was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather Jay Matheis; and brothers Lynn and Edward Burnett.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Burnett of Manvel and Floresville; father C.E. “Burt” Burnett of Floresville; children Donnie Burnett of Orlando, Fla., Chad R. Burnett and wife Mandy of LaPorte, Sandra Powell of Alvin, and Sherri Scudder of Wimberley; sisters-in-law Arlene Franklin of Floresville and Mollie Wilson of Woodville; grandchildren Tyler, Hunter, and Ashleigh Powell, Cooper Burnett, Zayne and Ciara Burnett, and Caiti, Barron, and Amanda Scudder; nephews and nieces Boyd Littlefield and wife Rachelle, Charlie Franklin and wife Krystal, and Laura Swanson and husband Steve; great-nieces and -nephews Allie and Austin Littlefield, Julia Franklin, Jack Swanson, and Victoria and Gabe Wilson; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 30, at noon in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Bennie Herrera.
