Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Todd Russell Burnett went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 71 years 5 months, and 29 days. He was born on Oct. 27, 1942, to Clarence E. and Evelyn Burnett in Illinois and grew up in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was a resident of Manvel, Texas, and also Floresville since 1999. Todd loved his land in Floresville and working the hay field with his John Deere. He also loved his cattle and horses over the years but most of all loved his family and his God. Todd was a kind and loving man who would help anyone who needed him whatever the circumstance. He was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

Todd was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather Jay Matheis; and brothers Lynn and Edward Burnett.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Burnett of Manvel and Floresville; father C.E. “Burt” Burnett of Floresville; children Donnie Burnett of Orlando, Fla., Chad R. Burnett and wife Mandy of LaPorte, Sandra Powell of Alvin, and Sherri Scudder of Wimberley; sisters-in-law Arlene Franklin of Floresville and Mollie Wilson of Woodville; grandchildren Tyler, Hunter, and Ashleigh Powell, Cooper Burnett, Zayne and Ciara Burnett, and Caiti, Barron, and Amanda Scudder; nephews and nieces Boyd Littlefield and wife Rachelle, Charlie Franklin and wife Krystal, and Laura Swanson and husband Steve; great-nieces and -nephews Allie and Austin Littlefield, Julia Franklin, Jack Swanson, and Victoria and Gabe Wilson; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 30, at noon in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Bennie Herrera.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Serving as pallbearers were Donnie Burnett, Chad Burnett, Tyler Powell, Hunter Powell, Boyd Littlefield, Charlie Franklin, and Barron Scudder.
