1927-2014

Wildajean Hewell, 86, of Nixon, died Friday, April 4, 2014. She was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Nixon, Texas, to Ollie and Elsie (Sullivan) Gaylord.

Wildajean gave much to the community of Nixon. She taught Sunday school and Bible School at First United Methodist Church and was very involved with all the activities Gloria and Johnny participated in during their school years. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Wildajean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Bird Hewell, on Sept. 25, 1992; and her daughter-in-law, Peggy Hewell.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Eshelman and husband Dean; son Johnny Hewell; five grandchildren, Heather Cirillo and husband Joey, Shawn Hewell and wife Sandra, Kenny Eshelman and wife Jocelyn, Lisa Heffner and husband Dave, and Karen Schafer and husband Mike; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Frances and Doris Hewell.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 7, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held in the funeral chapel on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Cowey and Pastor Rhonda Troll officiating.

Interment followed in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
