Herminia “Minnie” Barrera passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 29 days. She was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Panna Maria to Elvira Escamilla and Leon Martinez Sr.

She was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Antonio Barrera Jr.; son Albert Barrera; son-in-law Juan Trinidad; sisters Victoria Castro and Lily Galvan; and brothers Leon Martinez Jr. and Nash Martinez.

She is survived by her children, Ruby Trinidad and partner Basilio Diaz of Floresville, Mary Lou Torres and husband Eli of Floresville, Dora Cantu and husband Felix of Poth, Roland Barrera and wife Carmen of San Antonio, and Oscar Barrera and wife Mary of Floresville; sisters and brothers Elvira Devora of Floresville, Adelina Borrego of San Antonio, Aurora Martinez and husband Richard of Floresville, and Mary Morales and husband Richard, Carmen Muniz, and Adolfo Martinez and wife Olivia, all of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, at 5 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Frank Kurzaj.

Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Trinidad, Fred Fernandez, Albert Barrera, Antonio Cantu, Oscar Barrera Jr., and Preston Rodriguez.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnathon Johnson and Stefano Cantu.
