Offer condolences


Teresa Valdez Smith, 68, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was born on Jan. 18, 1946, to Mercedez E. and Maria (Concepcion) Valdez.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Mercedez Valdez; and brother Bennie Valdez.

She is survived by her mother, Maria C. Valdez; children Robert Valerio Jr. and wife Sylvia, Rose M. Rivas, Tracy Valerio and wife Martha, Jerry Valerio and wife Judy Parker Valerio, Valerie Valerio, and Elizabeth Valerio; grandchildren Nick, Andres, Sabrina, Marissa, Aric, Hunter, and Makayla; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Lydia V. Arredondo and Delia V. Rangel; brothers Frank Valdez and Leonard Valdez; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 8, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Concrete Cemetery in La Vernia, officiated by Pastor David Gale.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
