Foundation awards teacher grants
Teachers in the Falls City Independent School District are presented with a ceremonial check March 14 by the Falls City Education Foundation. The funds were awarded to enhance educational opportunities for district students. The actual funds were awarded in December.
The Falls City Education Foundation was established to increase community engagement and communication with Falls City Independent School District. It also provides opportunities for parents, community members, businesses, and alumni to help enhance the educational opportunities for the students.
During the 2012-13 school year, the foundation donated $25,000 for the purchase of iPads and tablets for students and teacher use.
A donation of $100,000 was made in the summer of 2013, to replace every computer in the district with more recent models. It also allowed the district to redistribute the existing computers into classrooms, creating more opportunities for student use.
Recent donations totaling $35,168.45, in the form of Innovative Teaching Grants, were awarded in December. The grants funded items ranging from science equipment to band instruments, and interactive projectors to online agriculture curriculum.
Every student in the Falls City ISD will be impacted by these grant donations.
An award ceremony was held March 14 to recognize the efforts of the Falls City Education Foundation board and for a ceremonial presentation to the teachers.
This brings the total amount donated to the district in the last two years to $160,168.45.
