ECISD to purchase land
EAST CENTRAL -- $270,000 -- that is the amount of money East Central Independent School District Superintendent Gary Patterson is authorized to spend for land that adjoins Pecan Valley Elementary School.
During the district’s regular meeting of the board of trustees March 27, Patterson was authorized to negotiate and purchase two tracts of land for no more than $270,000. Each tract measures approximately 0.66 acres in size.
According to Director of Executive Services Ashley Chohlis after the meeting, there are no specific plans for the property at this time, but the district could potentially develop the land in the future. In addition, the district’s purchase of the land would prevent another source from developing the land for something that could prove detrimental to the operation of the elementary school.
During the meeting, the trustees also recognized the district’s teachers of the year from various schools. Recipients included Azalea Ortiz of East Central Development Center, Kelly Henkes of Highland Forest Elementary, Daryl Anderson of John Glenn Elementary, Lucia Villabos of Sinclair Elementary, Maureen Reid of Pecan Valley Elementary, Tiffany Ward of Oak Crest Intermediate, Bradley Grant of Salado Intermediate, also named District Elementary Teacher of the Year; Angie Cooper of Heritage Middle School, Lauren Brehm of Legacy Middle School, Shannon Lascano of the Bexar County Learning Center, and Stephanie Sanders of East Central High School, also named District Secondary Teacher of the Year.
