The San Antonio River Authority (SARA) is hosting several events at Helton Nature Park on April 12. Residents of Wilson County and surrounding areas are invited to take advantage of the spring weather and enjoy some fun in the outdoors.

Families can celebrate the return of spring with an Art in Nature theme as part of Second Saturdays at Helton Nature Park. SARA staff will lead participants in several art projects and will provide kid-friendly crafts inspired by the natural beauty of the park. The event begins at 9 a.m. and should last approximately two hours.

SARA is also hosting the Pitch, Hit & Run competition for children ages 7-14 who reside in Wilson County. The event is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the event will begin at 10 a.m.

Archery enthusiasts should take advantage of the Texas State Archery Association’s second annual “Texas Outdoor Target Series.” This event serves to get youth archers used to the competitive environment and helps improve their performance. The event begins at 10 a.m. and registration will be capped at 40 participants.

The Helton San Antonio River Nature Park, located at 15662 F.M. 775 near Floresville, is a 98-acre park owned and operated by the San Antonio River Authority. For more information, visit www.sara-tx.org.
