Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. William Blake Armstrong went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the age of 30 years and 28 days. Blake was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 13, 1984, to Pamela Bishop and William Paul Armstrong.

He was a former resident of Portland and New Braunfels, and was a Floresville resident for one year.

William was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Betty and Earl Walker, Paul and Nettie Marie Bishop, Eunice and Franklin Fowler, and Paul and Iva Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Wilder Armstrong of Floresville; his parents, Pamela Bishop Atwood of Floresville and Will Armstrong of New Braunfels; grandparents Jim and Patsy Bishop of Floresville and Janet Lee and William D. Armstrong of Helotes; sister Courtney Lauren Armstrong of New Braunfels; brother Wesley Keith Jackson and wife Kimberly of Houston; sister-in-law Amanda Schane and husband Richard of Portland; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 14, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. James McClure officiating.

Interment followed in the Pleasanton City Cemetery in Pleasanton.

Serving as pallbearers were Allen Bishop, Richard Schane, Jody Henson, Dean Armstrong, Heather Lee Wertz, Chris Louden, Marty Williams, and Charlie Franklin.
