Offer condolences


Irene B. Olinick Moczygemba, 87, of Hobson, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2014, surrounded by her family and her priest, the Rev. Wieslaw Iwaniec. She was born on July 31, 1926, in Cestohowa, one of seven children to Anton and Martyna Skloss Olinick.

She attended Kosciusko High School and was the only graduate of the class of 1945. Irene met the love of her life, Leo J. Moczygemba, in Hobson and they were married on Jan. 12, 1949, in Cestohowa. They were blessed with 11 children, 33 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64-1/2 years, Leo J. Moczygemba; her parents; brothers Ernest, Joe, Anthony, and Alvin Olinick; daughter Doris Haby; grandsons Warren Moczygemba and Leo John Moczygemba III; and a granddaughter, Katie Lynn Moczygemba.

Irene is survived by her sons, Dalton Moczygemba and wife Georgia, Norman Moczygemba and wife Jane, Allan Moczygemba and wife Jackie, Richard Moczygemba and wife Carolyn, Michael Moczygemba and wife Karla, and Leo Moczygemba Jr. and wife Jeanette; her daughters, Janet Scheffler and husband Marvin, Sally Wiatrek and husband Willa, Sharon Zunker and husband Albert Zunker Jr., and Mary Jane Janysek and husband Vincent Janysek Jr.; son-in-law Lynn Haby; a sister, Margaret Felux; and brother Leonard Olinick.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 15, at 4 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment will follow in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Panna Maria.
