Council approves subdivision plat
Although the Stockdale City Council approved a subdivision plat and a special-use permit during its April 7 meeting, naming a new fire chief for the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) again hit a snag.
Former Fire Chief Edwin Baker resigned during the Feb. 4 meeting. Stockdale City Manager Banks Akin said he spoke to the fire department regarding this position. As there are procedures for the department to follow before the council is involved, the council tabled discussion of this matter at this time.
In a second safety issue, Stockdale City Marshal Jim Stewart presented his March report, including:
•68 contacts, with 23 citations issued
•One drug arrest
•One parole violation.
Money collected by municipal court, from citations issued by the city marshal’s office, totaled $5,002 for February and March.
In other action, the council approved a subdivision plat for Valero Cornerstore No. 1078, located off S.H. 123 south of Stockdale. According to Akin, Southwest Engineers approved the 11.146-acre plat, which met all requirements for drainage and wastewater. The plat is divided into two portions -- a store and a subdivision. No other information was provided.
The council also approved a special-use permit for Juan Adaba. The permit allows Adaba to place a recreational vehicle for security reasons on a commercial property on Eighth Street. He plans to set up a truck stop at that location. The council agreed to a 365-day permit, and may grant an extension.
The council also held a workshop following the meeting. See below for more.
Also in attendance: Stockdale Mayor Ray Wolff, Councilmen Sherry D. Lambeck, Scott Soden, Becky Adams, and Saul Bosquez.
