As of April 2, Brock Michael Semingson is no longer employed with the Floresville Independent School District (ISD), said Superintendent Sherri Bays. He was a social studies teacher at Floresville Middle School, after being hired by the district in July 2013.

Semingson, 41, of San Antonio was arrested March 29 and charged with possession of less than 1 gram of a controlled substance in Penalty Group I and with tampering with evidence. According to a preliminary report obtained by the Wilson County News via a written request to the San Antonio Police Department, officers spotted Semingson conversing with a man on North Hamilton Avenue in San Antonio at approximately 10:51 p.m.

As a result of their investigation, they discovered that Semingson was the subject of an active municipal warrant charging him with allowing an unauthorized person to drive. When they initiated a traffic stop, Semingson allegedly was found in possession of approximately 0.1 grams of crack cocaine.

Semingson was released March 30 from the Bexar County Jail after posting a total of $8,000 bond, according to jail records.

Bays would not speak on the arrest, indicating that the law forbids school districts from providing information about the criminal histories of its employees. However, further investigation by the Wilson County News found that Semingson had a prior arrest in Brazoria County, where he was charged in 2010 with public intoxication.

Bays said the district had no record of the prior arrest.

According to the Texas Education Agency’s website, Semingson obtained certification as an educational aide in 2001. Since 2003, he has been certified to teach fourth- through eighth-grade social studies.

If it got downgraded to a lesser charge, the P.I. arrest might have gotten expunged. Texas is notorious for its leniency with alcohol related offenses.
