The Stockdale tennis teams participated in the District 28-2A tournament April 3-4 at Starcke Park in Seguin.

In varsity mixed doubles, Dylan Dunn and Lauryn Coston finished second overall, earning a trip to the region tournament, which will be held Wednesday and Thursday, April 16-17, on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos.

In varsity boys singles, Anthony Bennett finished in third place in a play-back, which is when the second- and third-place contestants have not faced each other in the semifinals of the original draw. They played for the right to advance to the regional tournament as the district runner-up.

Tristan Marquez and Joel Marquez finished third in varsity boys doubles, while teammates Alex Vela and Travis Covington finished fourth.

Contestants eliminated in the first round of competition included Hannah Hernandez and Velma Vidal in varsity girls singles; Jesse Opela and Lacey Dugi in varsity mixed doubles; and the teams of Leticia Vela and Savannah Graf, and Vanessa Urrabazo and Ashleen Rangel in varsity girls doubles.

In junior varsity action, Michael Saucedo and Sybrana Garza finished third in mixed doubles. Unfortunately, everyone else failed to advance beyond the first round of competition. Representing Stockdale were Diamond Carl and Hunter Pope in mixed doubles; Balea Wells and Lori Marroquin, and Sarah Nichols and Shelby Riley in girls doubles; and Nathan Golla and Aaron Wallace in boys doubles.
