UVALDE -- It was another good tournament for the Floresville varsity tennis team, as the Tigers and Jaguars placed in all five events, winning the district title in Uvalde April 4-5.

The team’s top finish came in boys doubles action, as the freshman-sophomore team of Christopher Marrero and Kyle Ferguson finished first to win gold.

Floresville also grabbed a slew of silver medals at district. Junior Joseph Wayne was second in boys singles, while fellow junior Ashlee Aicher finished second in girls singles. The freshman-junior team of Spencer Leal and Sanam Bhakta finished second in mixed doubles, and the girls doubles team of Kaia Carrillo and Kelsey Bailey, both juniors, also won silver.

Marissa Lyssy earned a bronze in singles with her third-place finish, and will serve as an alternate at regionals.

The regional tournament was scheduled to be held April 15 at Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio.
