Falls City exhibitors excel in KC Youth Show

Karnes County exhibitors from local 4-H and FFA clubs competed Jan. 16-18 in the Karnes County Youth Show in the Karnes County Show Barn, between Karnes City and Kenedy.
Four Falls City FFA members walked away with top honors. Kevin Jendrusch’s Exotic Division steer earned the grand champion halter steer division and $16,000 (not counting add-ons) in the auction sale Jan. 18. He also showed the reserve champion halter steer, which sold for $9,000.
Jacob Hofauer’s crossbreed hog earned grand champion honors. Jacob is no stranger to the winners’ circle, having shown the reserve champion Duroc market hog last year.
Conner Jendrusch’s heavyweight goat returned Conner to the winners’ circle by being named the grand champion goat. Last year, he showed the grand champion halter steer.
Tucker Huff defended his 2013 grand champion lamb title, taking top honors again with his medium wool lamb.
Reserve champion honors went to Hadley Burkett and Chase Ramsey, with a medium-weight goat and broilers, respectively.
Several Falls City exhibitors sold projects in the auction; total receipts (without add-ons) amounted to $575,178.
