Elmendorf Alderman Jesse “Chuy” Garcia, 73, has lost his battle with cancer.

City Administrator Cody Dailey, in an April 21 press release, confirmed Garcia’s Easter Sunday death. Funeral arrangements are pending.

“Alderman Garcia passed away in his home, surrounded by family and friends,” Dailey said.

Garcia was elected to the Elmendorf City Council in 2012 and was seeking re-election to his Place 3 council seat.
