1919-2014

Angelita Ortega Adames, 94, formerly of Smiley, Texas, died Monday, April 14, 2014, in Austin. She was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Smiley to Tranquillino and Guadalupe (Carmona) Ortega.

Angelita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Adames Sr.; a daughter, Lucy Adames; four brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Irene Adames, Oralia Adames Ruiz, Olga Vega, Diana Gomez and husband Phillip, and Gloria Adames; her sons, Frank Adames Jr. and wife Junia, Rudy Adames, and Alfred “Freddy” Adames; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving family.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 22, from 5-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley.

Interment will follow in the Burriola Cemetery near Smiley. Memorial contributions may be made by way of Mass intentions.
