John worked and resided in Seguin for many years, before moving to Poth two years ago. John traveled numerous places, studying history and collecting relics to satisfy his lifelong passion for the Civil War, and enjoyed being a member of the Poth Volunteer Fire Department.

John was preceded in death by his father, Henry Thomas Sekula Sr.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 20, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk. Interment followed in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Cestohowa. Serving as pallbearers were Barton Olson, Clinton Crider, Joel Castillo, Kyle Olson, Leroy Mutz, Brandon Crider, Thomas Sekula III, and Jesse Bryan. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Robert W.
