Salvador N. Treviño Sr., a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Monday, April 14, 2014, at 9:33 p.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 7 days. Salvador was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Denhawken, Wilson County, Texas, the son of Felix and Dominga Narvaez Treviño. He attended school in Lodi and was a welder for many years. Salvador married Alice Ximenez on March 7, 1945, in Wilson County. Alice, Salvador’s beloved wife of more than 62 years, preceded him in death on July 25, 2007. Salvador proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Alice Ximenez Treviño; his son, Gilbert Treviño; and his siblings, Lola Rivera, Lucas Treviño, Narcisa Treviño, Trinidad Rivera, Ricardo Treviño, and Guadalupe Ximenez.

Salvador is survived by his children, Salvador Treviño Jr. and wife Esperanza, Jo Ann Muñoz and husband Carlos “Billy,” and Laura Estrada and husband Fernando Estrada Jr., all of Floresville; his grandchildren, Vincent Treviño and wife Jackie of San Antonio, Denise Treviño of Floresville, Adriana Nieto and husband Johnny Ray of Floresville, Marissa Muñoz of New York, Carlos R. Muñoz and wife Brandy of San Antonio, Kristy Silva and husband Jacob of San Antonio, Regina Olenick and husband Keith of Austin, Kourtney Treviño and fiancé Thomas Ramirez of San Antonio, Ashley Treviño of Pasadena, Victoria Treviño of Pasadena, Lauren Estrada of Floresville, and Maximo Estrada of Floresville; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his brothers, Rudy Treviño of Pasadena, Felix Treviño of Floresville, Raymundo Treviño and wife Olga, and Geronemo Treviño, all of San Antonio.

Visitation was held Wednesday, April 16, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Frank Kurzaj.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Vincent Treviño, Carlos R. Muñoz, Maximo Estrada, Vincent Treviño Jr., Landry Nieto, Johnny Ray Nieto, Jacob Silva, Keith Olenick, Thomas Ramirez, and Xavier Cantu.
