My name is Alice Pollok, and I have lived in China Grove for 15 years. I have worked in the East Central Independent School District for 20 years as a paraprofessional and later as a substitute teacher. When I moved to China Grove I found the city to be a quaint place to live. I began attending city council meetings on a regular basis and became more involved with my community.
China Grove was once a well-run and organized city. I watched a lot of positive things happen over the past several years. Unfortunately since our last election, negative things started to happen in our city. Our police department was abolished this past year, municipal court proceedings are now in shambles, our council meeting times have been changed for the convenience of the council rather than the citizens, and meetings are now conducted by an attorney instead of the mayor. A once-open council now restricts citizens from speaking freely. Administrative errors have compromised our city.
These are just a few of the issues that I would address if elected to make the city a more attractive and safe place to live. Your vote is very important!
