The Floresville FFA judging teams have had a busy spring. Floresville students have been traveling all over the state to participate in various judging contests.

The Horse Judging team of Alyssa Flores, Audriana Flores, Bailey Pawelek, and Rachel Miksch participated in the Area VII FFA judging contests held at Texas A&M University in College Station April 5, where they placed 22nd in Area VII and fifth in the Guadalupe Valley District.

The Poultry Judging team of Emily Hoelscher, Kristin Greer, Alex Morris, and Callie Baker judged at Texas State University on March 28th and at the Area VII Judging Contest held April 5 at Texas A&M University in College Station. The team placed 11th in Area VII and fourth in the Guadalupe Valley District.

The Milk Quality and Products team of Julie Rakowitz, Shae Shodrock, Shelby Madden, and Ryan Tieken placed fourth at the April 5 Area VII Judging Contest. The team also placed third in the Guadalupe Valley District. Julie was the fifth high-point individual at the area contest. With their area placing, this team qualified for state and will travel to Stephenville to Tarleton State University April 24 for the state contest. This is the fourth year Floresville has trained this team and they have qualified for state every year.

The Tractor Technician team of Alejandro Baker, Matthew Pollok, and Austin Reed competed Jan. 15 in the Area VII contest held at Texas State Technical College in Waco. The team placed second in Area VII and first in Guadalupe Valley District. This team also qualified for state and competed at the state contest March 17 at the Houston Stock Show. This is the second time Floresville has trained this team and the second time for them to qualify for state.

The Livestock Judging team of Haley Wares, McClaine Pawelek, Zoey Wiatrek, Cade Burks, and Ryan Tieken has competed at several contests this spring. This team placed second March 28 at Texas State University and seventh at the April 5 Area VII Contest. They also placed second in the Guadalupe Valley District. McClaine and Haley were fifth and eighth high-point individuals, respectively, at Texas State. Haley also was the second high-point individual at the Area Contest.

Their area placing qualifies them for the May 3 state contest, which will be held at Texas A&M in College Station. This is the second year in a row that this team has qualified for state and the sixth year out of the last seven.

All of these kids have done an excellent job representing Floresville FFA this spring and we wish them good luck at state. Team coaches and FFA advisors are Mark Jarzombek and Mike Billings.
