Director will disciple both parents and youth grades 1-12, establish appropriate caring relationships with youth, seek opportunities to connect with youth in their environment on their schedule, organize parents into groups for children's ministry work, arrange at least 3 annual local events or trips for Sr. high youth, recruit and encourage youth and adults to take positions of shared leadership and involvement, create and implement means for regular communication with parents and youth, manage youth and family ministry calendar in collaboration with staff, parents, and youth. In an attempt to encourage fifth-grade students at Poth Elementary School to do their best on the science STAAR test, members of the Poth High School Science Club designed stations to interact with the fifth-grade class. The purpose was to excite the fifth- graders about science and to show them how fun it can be.

The stations, which took place on Earth Day, included:

•States of Matter “goop”: Students made a “goop” and described the difference between solids, liquids, and gases.

•Forces “Tug‐of-War”: Students played tug-of-war and demonstrated the difference between balanced and unbalanced forces.

•Energy “Complete the circuit”: Students saw circuit boards and learned how electric energy passes through the wires. They made a “human circuit” and found out that the circuit had to be “closed” for the energy ball to make sound energy.

•Water Cycle: Students actively ran to different stations that described parts of the water cycle.

•Weathering (different types of rocks): Students made sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rock. They found out the difference between the types of rocks was pressure and heat and that only sedimentary rock has fossils.

•Organisms and the Environment (quick frozen critters): Students played an active game that showed predator-prey relationships and how limiting factors play a role in their population.
