FLORESVILLE -- Police are releasing few details at this time about the discovery of a body off U.S. 181 here May 2.

A Floresville city worker was mowing the grass on the highway’s southbound shoulder near the SouthTrust Bank (formerly the First National Bank) when he saw the body in a drainage culvert. Detective George Ortiz of the Floresville Police Department confirmed the badly decomposed body is that of a male, age unknown.

As of 3:45 p.m., Wilson County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Jim Burdette was on the scene and a Texas Ranger was en route.

It just seems weird to me, if a body had been there for a day, even two, there would be buzzards, or one or two of the stray dogs that roam the area from time to time, nosing around the area. I know if there is a squirrel on ... More ›
