SHINER -- The Stockdale Junior High School tennis team participated in the Shiner Junior High tennis tournament April 26.

In the seventh-grade boys division, Marcos Marquez finished first in singles play, and teammate Dawson Lerma finished fourth. Christian Aguilar and Tyler Forster captured the first position in boys doubles, and teammates Jacob Hernandez and Travis Gutierrez finished in fourth place. Mark Hernandez and Carlos Alaniz advanced to the consolation final.

In the eighth-grade boys division, teammates Collin Akin and Trenton Jordan competed for the first-place award in singles competition. Akin eventually finished first, and Jordan was second. Alex McInvale advanced to the consolation final in singles play.

Thomas Burrier and Jacob Vaughan competed in the eighth-grade doubles final, but came up a bit short to finish second. Jalen Cano and Enoch Clapp advanced to the consolation final.

Theresa Vela finished second in the seventh-grade girls singles division. Lady Brahma teammates Jazmine Navarro and Morgan Brysch were the winners of the consolation division in doubles play.

In the eighth-grade girls division, Cayci Mills and Karlye Lynn competed against teammates Madison Fitzsimon and Callye McGee in the final. Mills and Lynn finished in first place, and Fitzsimon and McGee were second.

The Stockdale Junior High School tennis team was scheduled to participate in the District 28-2A tennis tournament May 3 in Hallettsville.
