FALLS CITY -- It was a another good week for the Falls City Beaver baseball team. The district champs not only had the luxury of a first-round bye in the playoffs, but also picked up a convincing 12-2 win over Ben Bolt in a warmup game.

After two and a half scoreless innings with the Badgers, the Beavers got rolling in the bottom of the third inning. Justin Twine started things off with a triple to right field, and Dean Gaskamp hit an infield single to score Twine. Jonathan Sekula and Mitch Lyssy each hit singles, and Sekula made his way across home plate. Austen Camber ripped a single to score Matthew Stulting, who came in to run for Devon Lyssy after he drew a walk. When the side was finally retired, it was a 3-0 lead for the Beavers.

Following a three-up, three-down stand in the top of the fourth, the Beavers put 2 more runs on the board as Zach Jimerson and Gaskamp each scored to make it a 5-0 game. Ben Bolt scored a run in the top of the fifth, but Falls City scored 2 in the bottom of the frame and led 7-1 heading into the sixth inning.

Falls City scored its final runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Stulting, Colin Dziuk, Camber, Houdmann, and Gabe Jimerson all crossed home plate. The Badgers scored 1 final run in the seventh, but it was nowhere near enough, and the Beavers celebrated a 12-2 victory.

Falls City is scheduled to face either Mason or Charlotte later this week in an area championship. Details of the game were unavailable as of press time, however. For updates and scores, visit www.wilsoncountynews.com.
