Letter: Floresville chamber relocation update
It has become necessary to move the chamber office building from its current location, as the site formerly owned by the Floresville school district is to be redeveloped into a Valero Corner Store convenience store with gas and diesel pumps. We were contacted by lawyers representing SCC Floresville Partners Ltd. on Feb. 19 asking how long it would take us to move the building. We asked for four to six months. However, on April 11, we were informed we had seven days to move the building.
Because we feel it is important for the chamber/visitor center to remain on U.S. 181 where it would be visible to visitors to our city, our heartfelt gratitude goes to FISD Superintendent Sherri Bays and the board of trustees for arranging for us to lease some school property on Railroad Street, right on the corner of U.S. 181. There is considerable work to be done to arrange permits, have a survey conducted, and run utilities to the property. We are hoping to accomplish this in the next three to four weeks.
At the time of the actual move, the chamber office will be closed for about one week, but phone calls and emails will be forwarded to minimize the disruption.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
President, Floresville Chamber of Commerce
