Hazardous collection event
The San Antonio River Authority (SARA), Marathon Oil Corp., and Wilson County will conduct a household hazardous waste collection event for Wilson County residents on Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to noon at Wilson County Precinct 2 yard at 1005 Railroad St. in Poth.
Residents can take the following household hazardous waste:
•Automobile tires with no rims, acids, antifreeze, used motor oil and filters, pool chemicals, lawn and garden chemicals, and batteries, to name a few.
•Used electronics such as microwaves, blenders, toasters, televisions, monitors, and computer parts will also be accepted.
In addition, pharmaceutical waste, to include prescription and nonprescription meds, pet medications, inhalers, and vitamins, will be accepted. Leave items in original containers and black out all personal information.
Items not to bring include:
•Trailer or tractor tires, tires with rims, agricultural chemicals, ammunition, explosives, large appliances, containers larger than 5 gallons, syringes, oxygen tanks, and more.
Materials will be collected on a first-come, first-served basis. Proof of address is required.
