Offer condolences


Gilbert A. Hartmann, 89, of Garden Ridge, Texas, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014, in San Antonio. He was born June 16, 1924, in Guadalupe County to Fritz Thomas and Helena A. (Schievelbein) Hartmann.

Gilbert was employed as a product designer with Friedrich Refrigeration for many years. After his retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle in Wilson County. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Dorothy Mae (Danysh) Hartmann; sisters Rose Imken, Ruby Strey, Marjorie Barth, and Mabel Krueger; and brothers George, Alvin, and Alton Hartmann.

Gilbert is survived by his children, Karen Hartmann of San Antonio, Wayne Hartmann and wife Judy of San Antonio, Lori Hartmann Cline of La Vernia, and Mark Hartmann and wife Terri of Seguin; grandchildren Leanne Roseland and husband Eric, Tom Hartmann and wife Rochelle, Kenny Hartmann and fiancée Jennifer White, Candyce Hartmann, and PFC Shane Hartmann; great-grandchildren Drew Roseland, Conley Roseland, and Halle Hartmann; brother Gerald F. Hartmann and wife Marilyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family; and countless loving friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 13, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment with military honors will follow in the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek Cemetery in Seguin.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gilbert’s name to the Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek Cemetery Fund, 3305 Church Road, Seguin, TX 78155.
