Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Chester “Chet” R. Pilarczyk passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, in his home. Chet was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Cestohowa, Texas, the son of Leon and Sallie Mutz Pilarczyk.

Chet married and was later divorced. He retired from Thiokol Corp. (ATK) Production Control Space Operations Final Assembly after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie No. 2472 in Ogden, Utah, the American Legion in Huntsville, Utah, and the VFW in Ogden. He also enjoyed trips to Wendover. Chet enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He also coached and played softball and baseball for many years. Chet graduated from Falls City High School in Falls City in 1954. He was involved in playing football and running track.

Chet was preceded in death by five brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by three sons, Rick Pilarczyk and wife Shelly of Hooper, Utah, Larry Pilarczyk and wife Lainie of Honeyville, Utah, and James Pilarczyk and wife Jeana of Layton, Utah; a daughter, Lori Pilarczyk Patterson Russell and husband Paul of Morgan, Utah; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Pilarczyk and wife Alice of San Antonio; and a sister, Margaret Kolodziej of Cestohowa.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 9, from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Lindquist Mortuary in Ogden.

A memorial Mass was held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the St. James Catholic Church in Odgen.

Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Ogden.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Building Fund at St. James Catholic Church, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden, UT 84404.
