ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Tommy and Deborah Scogin of La Vernia, Texas, are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Arminda Kathleen “Mindi,” to Derek Thomas Skloss, the son of Leroy and Margie Skloss of Karnes City.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Billie Scogin of Pleasanton and the late Milton Scogin, and the late John and Gertrude Pierdolla, formerly of La Vernia.

Mindi is a graduate of La Vernia High School and Texas Lutheran University. She is employed with the La Vernia Independent School District as a second-grade teacher at the primary school.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Agnes Kollodziej of San Antonio and the late John Kollodziej, and the late Benjamin and Eva Skloss, formerly of Pawelekville.

Derek is a graduate of Karnes City High School and Texas State University. He is employed with the Pleasanton Independent School District as a teacher and coach at both Pleasanton Junior High School and Pleasanton High School.

The couple plan to wed on Saturday, June 28, 2014, in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa, Texas.
