Hospital finances stay in black
Despite higher-than-expected expenses related to its growing clinic system and payroll costs, the Wilson Memorial Hospital District -- which operates under the moniker of the “Connally Memorial Medical Center” -- continues to keep its head above water. This is according to a presentation by the hospital’s Comptroller Jamie Jacoby during the May 15 board of directors meeting.
According to the statement of operations, the hospital finished April with a net income of $146,551 -- which included $266,953 in property taxes and other subsidies.
As of April 30, Connally has seen a net income of $1,376,364 -- $462,538 less than projected. This includes property-tax collections and other subsidies of $1,733,617.
The board accepted Jacoby’s report and also approved the following expenditures:
•Up to $55,000 for repair and maintenance of parking areas at the hospital, with the final cost to be determined at the conclusion of a bid process.
•$32,589 for the purchase of video-rhino laryngoscope.
Also in attendance: Board members Ronnie Eckel, Tommy Soriero, Keith Johanson, Larry Richardson, Sandy Yow, and Tom Ray; Chief Executive Officer Brian Burnside, Administrative Assistant Shirley Bienek, Interim Chief Nursing Officer Sue Tackitt; and Karl Hittle of Endeavor Healthcare.
