FEDC OKs lawn-service contract
FLORESVILLE -- For the next year, Barry Morrison will be responsible for mowing and shredding on all Floresville Economic Development Corp. (FEDC) property, following a unanimous vote at the FEDC’s May 12 board meeting.
Morrison, said FEDC Executive Director Tommy Baker, was the only one to answer a recent bid solicitation published in the Wilson County News. He will be compensated at a rate of $42 per acre, mowing on an as-needed basis.
The board also voted to hire “Title Express and/or Foster-Harvey” to conduct a search to verify the ownership of mineral rights under two tracts in the El Rancho Grande Industrial Park on F.M. 537. Baker said the FEDC needs written proof that it owns 100 percent of the minerals, as Laredo Hydrotec is set to be granted half of them as part of an earlier deal to purchase the tracts. The search could cost up to $3,500.
In other business, the board met in closed session to discuss an earnest money contract for a company to purchase a house and 2 acres located within the industrial park. Baker said May 19 that the deal had fallen through that morning.
Also in attendance: Board members Andy Eubanks, Ray Lamberth, Mary Helen Tieken, Raymond “Ram” Ramirez, David Johns, and Roland Castro; Floresville City Comptroller Connie Moreno and City Manager Henrietta Turner.
