Thieves target plot decorations
FLORESVILLE -- Concrete urns used to hold flowers at gravesites in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on U.S. 181 Business here continue to be a target of thieves, according to police.
On March 19, a woman reported to Patrolman Robert Gonzalez of the Floresville Police Department that the concrete planters and other items have been stolen over a period of months from her father’s gravesite, said Detective George Ortiz. The department took a similar report in May 2013, he said.
Ortiz said one issue is that it has no gates, making it easy for people to enter during nighttime hours. He reminds anyone witnessing suspicious people, vehicles, or activity in the area to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 830-393-2535.
Visitors to the cemetery who notice items missing should report this to the Floresville Police Department by calling 830-393-3055.
Anonymous tips, for which cash rewards are given if they lead to an arrest or to the recovery of stolen property, can be furnished to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or http://bit.ly/NDrIut.
