Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

1926-2014

Iva Lee Bridges, 87, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, in a nursing home in Kenedy, Texas, following an extended illness. Iva Lee was born Dec. 26, 1926, to William David and Verda Iva (Massey) Walton in George West. She was a nurse for the McMullen County Independent School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willliam David and Verda Iva Walton; sisters Allene Skinner and Demah Lemley; and her husbands, Robert Mapes in 1956 and Aldrew “Pete” Bridges in 1996.

Iva is survived by her son, Robert Bridges and wife Faye of Jourdanton, and her daughter, Mary Ann Franke and husband Douglas of Kenedy. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Deborah Franke of Austin, Kim Loveland and husband Dustin of Miami, Fla., Katie Jaskinia and husband Russell of La Vernia, and Melissa Bridges of Adkins; and one great-granddaughter, Macie Jaskinia of La Vernia. She is also survived by two brothers, David “Bud” Walton and wife Vi and John Walton and wife Wonda, all of George West, two sisters, Illa Mae Hines and husband Euel of George West and Willie Ruth Ford of Houston. She was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews that will love her and miss her dearly, her family said.

Visitation was held Saturday, May 17, from 5-8 p.m. in the Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery in Three Rivers.
